Sam Nazarian’s Samy Boy Pictures has inked a first-look deal with Matthew Rhodes and Judd Payne’s Persistent Entertainment.
Samy Boy will provide equity financing for selected Persistent pic projects. Also, Persistent will relocate to Samy Boy’s offices in Century City.
Samy and Persistent have already teamed on their first title, “A Different Loyalty,” directed by Marek Kanievska (“Less Than Zero”). Starring Sharon Stone and Rupert Everett and filming in Montreal, London, Malta and Moscow, pic will be released by Lions Gate Films.
Samy Boy previously inked an equity financing agreement with HSI Entertainment. The first film under that deal is James Merendino’s “Trespassing,” now in post.
Samy Boy and HSI Entertainment also created a production and distribution entity that partnered with the Louisiana Institute of Film Technology and the Louisiana Economic Development Corp. to finance 10-12 low-budget films.
Rhodes is exec producing Miramax Films and Revolution Studios’ “An Unfinished Life,” directed by Lasse Hallstrom and starring Jennifer Lopez. Persistent is also in post on “September Tapes,” shot on location in Afghanistan.
