Outfest will unspool 188 films from 26 countries to celebrate its “21st birthday” with this year’s edition, set for July 10-21 in Los Angeles.
Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato’s club-kid murder pic “Party Monster,” starring Macaulay Culkin and Seth Green, will kick off the fest.
“Mambo Italiano,” directed by Emile Gaudreault and starring Luke Kirby and Paul Sorvino, screens closing night. Both pics will unspool at the Orpheum Theater downtown.
Awards-night screening is Alex Steyermark’s girl-band meller “Prey for Rock and Roll,” starring Gina Gershon and Drea de Matteo. Pic will be preceded by fest’s kudos ceremony, hosted by Bruce Vilanch.
Helmer-scribe Jane Anderson will pick up the seventh annual Outfest Achievement Award at the opening-night gala for her body of work.
