Walt Disney Animation has acquired a pitch from tyro scribe Rian Johnson — “The Prince and the Pig,” based on an epic poem.
Jane Goldenring (“My First Mister”) will produce the project, which follows the adventures of a boy and his pig as they brave all odds in an attempt to steal a piece of the moon.
Johnson’s reps at Paul Kohner are working on a publishing deal for the property.
Supervising the project at Disney are Leo Chu, VP creative affairs, and Karen Rupert, director of creative affairs.
Johnson also wrote the high school drama “Brick,” which is skedded to shoot this fall through Bergman Lustig Prods.
Goldenring also is producing “Five Dollars a Day” for Fine Line Features, with Scott Hicks directing.
