The 1967 Monterey Pop Festival will be celebrated Thursday at the American Cinematheque’s Mods and Rockers festival.
A screening of the film documenting the legendary concert will be followed by a Q&A with co-founder/organizer and performer Michelle Phillips of the Mamas & Papas, Roger Daltrey of the Who, festival producer Lou Adler and members of other acts of the era.
Event takes place at 7:30 p.m. at Grauman’s Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood; D.S. Pennebaker’s doc on Bob Dylan’s 1965 tour, “Don’t Look Back,” will also be screened.
Event opens the fifth annual Mods and Rockers, a two-week festival of 1960s and early ’70s films, most of them music-related.
A free English Tea Party concert will be held Saturday from 1 to 4 p.m. with a band led by Spencer Davis with appearances by Jackie Lomax, Jack Casady and Barry McGuire.
