MGM has acquired romantic comedy spec “Between the Covers,” from writers Robin Schiff and Ken Levine, for Arthur Sarkissian Prods.
Story concerns two writers who meet and have an affair on a book-signing tour — a free-spirited woman and a married man considered to be America’s leading expert on marital problems.
Schiff and Levine, both repped by BWCS, have backgrounds in TV. Schiff is a consulting producer on “Miss Match” and “Coupling.” She exec produced “Grosse Point” with Darren Star and exec produced, wrote and directed “Romy & Michele: In the Beginning” for ABC.
Ken Levine is a writer and director on “Becker” and “It’s All Relative.” He is also developing a pilot with David Isaacs for Paramount.
Peter Sussman, VP of development at Sarkissian Prods., brought the project to the shingle.
Sarkissian, who produced the first two installments of the “Rush Hour” franchise, signed a first-look producing deal with MGM last year. His upcoming projects include an adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates’ “You Must Remember This,” which he is producing with Martin Scorsese and Barbara De Fina, and a remake of French heist thriller “The Red Circle” with John Woo.
