PARIS — “The Matrix Reloaded” will be screened out of competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, organizers confirmed Thursday.
The pic will receive its Croisette international preem May 15, the same day that the cyberpunk thriller sequel launches on 3,000-plus screens Stateside.
Producer Joel Silver and cast members Keanu Reaves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving, Jada Pinkett Smith, Monica Bellucci and Lambert Wilson are expected to attend.
Warner Bros. and French pay TV company TPS, which recently struck a multi-year deal with the U.S. major, are hosting a post-preem bash.
The fest opens May 14 with Gallic swashbuckler “Fanfan la Tulipe” starring Vincent Perez and Penelope Cruz.
