LONDON — Former Aardman exec Michael Rose has joined forces with producer Martin Pope to launch a new production company, Magic Light Pictures.
The outfit will specialize in comedy and family movies, working across live action and animation.
The duo have pooled their existing development slates. These include Paul Unwin’s cross-cultural romantic comedy “Wild Thing”; two projects from the directing team Neil Hunter and Tom Hunsinger; and “Marshall,” a 21st century Western blending CGI with live action, by Kiwi writer/director James Cunningham.
Pope is currently working on the UK/Canadian co-productin “That Touch Of Pink,” and previously produced “The Heart of Me” and Hunter and Hunsinger’s acclaimed debut “Lawless Heart.”
Rose exec produced “Chicken Run” at Aardman, before leaving a year ago to fly solo as an indie producer. He continues to serve as exec producer on Nick Park’s upcoming “Wallace and Gromit” movie for Aardman.
