LivePlanet, producer of the HBO series “Project Greenlight,” has elevated Larry Tanz to CEO and president.
Chris Moore, who founded the company with Sean Bailey, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, drops the title but continues as chairman and onscreen tough guy producer of “Greenlight,” now in its second HBO season.
Tanz had been the company’s senior veep of business development and steered the company into partnerships and corporate sponsorships. Moore will spend more time as the hands-on producer of movie and TV projects, a post for which he’s become infamous as he rides newcomer filmmakers to stay on miniscule movie budgets for the series.
“I am committed to building on our past success to continue to push the frontiers of integrated media productions and branded entertainment,” said Tanz. “We have some fantastic projects in the pipeline.”
LivePlanet was formed in 2000; projects so far include the upcoming Ridley Scott-directed “Matchstick Men,” with Nicolas Cage; “The Battle of Shaker Heights”; and “American Pie” sequel “American Wedding.” Tanz, one of the company’s first hires, will continue as co-producer of “Project Greenlight” and “Shaker Heights.”
