Jamie Kennedy, who begins production today on New Line Cinema’s “Son of the Mask,” is attached to star in “The Afterparty,” a pitch purchased by Mandeville Films and Warner Bros. Pictures.
Based on his pitch, Mark Perez will write the script in which a young man enjoys his Las Vegas bachelor party so much he can’t remember anything about it. Then, as he and his fiancee make last-minute preparations for their big day, the strange characters he befriended during his lost weekend begin to make surprise appearances in his life.
Warners VP of production Greg Silverman and creative exec Alysia Cotter will oversee the project for the studio. Perez will produce with Mandeville principal David Hoberman and Brian Lutz. Mandeville prexy Todd Lieberman is executive producer.
Perez is writing the action comedy “Hitman” for Warners and “Hardy Men” for Fox 2000 and Ben Stiller.
Kennedy starred in Warners’ “Malibu’s Most Wanted.” WB series “The Jamie Kennedy Experiment” will enter its third season this fall.
Mandeville is in post on “Raising Helen,” starring Kate Hudson, and “Providence,” starring Matthew Broderick and Alec Baldwin.
