Basil Iwanyk, Intermedia’s president of worldwide production, is in negotiations to leave for a producing deal at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Move will bring Iwanyk back to the Warners lot, where he spent five years as a production exec before joining Intermedia. Accompanying Iwanyk will be Intermedia production VP Tobin Armbrust.
Intermedia chairman Moritz Borman said he is working closely with Iwanyk to fill the top production slot. Iwanyk is expected to remain at Intermedia for at least two months to ensure a smooth transition.
In addition to shepherding Intermedia’s production slate, Iwanyk has been a key player in Warners-Intermedia deals, including the domestic distribution of summer hit “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines” and the upcoming “Alexander the Great,” starring Colin Farrell.
Borman said that he hopes Iwanyk would continue to oversee Intermedia projects at Warners.
Iwanyk joined Intermedia in November 2000. In addition to the upcoming “Laws of Attraction” and “Welcome to Mooseport,” he was an executive producer on Intermedia’s “Basic” and “K-19: The Widowmaker.”
After starting in the industry as an agency trainee at UTA, Iwanyk joined Warners as a creative exec in 1995. He was promoted to VP in 1998.
