HONG KONG — In light of concerns about the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome outbreak, the Hong Kong Trade Development Council has urged local participants attending the Cannes Film Festival (May 14-25) to take precautionary measures before and during the festival.
In a letter, the HKTDC advises guests — many of whom will set off this weekend or early next week — to obtain a health certificate before boarding the plane. They are also being asked to arrive at the airport earlier since Hong Kong’s government requires passengers to have their body temperatures taken before boarding; those suspected of having SARS will be taken off their flights.
Guests are also being asked to take their own body temperature daily before entering the Cannes fairground. The HKTDC will also provide face masks, anti-bacterial wipes, hand sanitizers and thermometers.
