Holzer Cannes do fest poster

Work will be unveiled with the film selection next week

PARIS — The Cannes Film Festival has tapped U.S. conceptual artist Jenny Holzer to design the fest poster.

Holzer is famed for her “Truisms” series of slogans that appeared on an electronic advertising board above Times Square in New York. She’s also a film festival veteran, having created an installation at Venice’s Biennale back in 1990. Holzer’s poster will be unveiled along with the film selection next week. She has also created installations in which quotes from directors will be projected on the Palais des Festivals and other spots around Cannes.

Other fest crowd-pleasers include a continuation of last year’s “Cinema de la plage,” in which movies will be screened on the beach, and “Cannes en Musique” featuring movie music along the Croisette and a concert by cinema composers Bruno Coulais, Nicola Piovani and Michael Nyman.
