GRIT will host its third annual screening of films by female directors Nov. 5.
The L.A.-based org, which is short for Girls Reeling It Together, is a group of femme helmers whose mission is to support a community of women filmmakers everywhere.
The three films featured in this year’s screening are the animated short “Ola’s Box of Clovers,” written and directed by Genevieve Anderson; narrative short “Fear of Falling,” written and directed by Melissa Brown, and doc “Irene’s Last Call,” directed by Renie Oxley.
GRIT was formed by filmmaker Shawn Tolleson in 1998 as a platform for and advocate of female directors’ voices.
Originally conceived as the Lilith Fair of Short Films, GRIT has grown to include an annual screening of feature and short films directed by women, a dues-paying membership of over 30 filmmakers, regular meetings for networking and fellowship, and roundtables with accomplished industry women.
Event will unspool at 7:30 p.m. at the Los Angeles Film School Screening Room, 6363 Sunset Blvd. RSVP to (323) 610-5665.
