Fest fostering human rights

Filmmakers asked to enter by June 1

JOHANNESBURG — The second Intl. Three Continents Documentary Film Festival, to be held Sept. 3-24 in South Africa, hopes to foster increased human rights awareness in Asia, Africa and Latin America.

Festival director Rehad Desai said this year’s event would be a forum for docs centered on human rights themes and stories from the continents. The fest called on filmmakers from Asia, Africa and Latin America to submit entries by June 1.

Desai said the festival will travel to all the major urban centers of South Africa and provide screenings in predominantly black township areas and poor rural communities.

Information and entry forms are available on the festival Web site at www.3continentsfestival.co.za.

The first fest was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
