Dimension takes a trip with the ‘Von Doozers’

Comedy is about a family traveling to a singing contest

Dimension Films is readying “The Von Doozers,” snapping up the comedy spec from veteran TV scribe and producer Phil Wen for $500,000 against $1 million.

Pic is the first feature script for Wen, who started out as a staff writer on “Spin City” and also worked on “Oliver Beene.” He and writing partner Bill Callahan are now supervising producers on ABC skein “8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter.”

The “Von Doozers” is a road comedy about an American family that travels to a singing contest. Dimension co-head of production and development Brad Westin will oversee pic’s development.

Wen was repped in the deal by UTA and Benderspink.
