Exec to replace Pickering; handled 'Gift,' 'Runaway'
Stephanie Denton has left Lakeshore Intl. and has joined Initial Entertainment Group as president of distribution.
Denton is expected to take up her new post just prior to the Cannes Film Festival and will report directly to IEG chairman Graham King.
She replaces former IEG president of sales and distribution Pamela Pickering, who joined the company in April 2001 and is leaving to pursue other business interests.
Denton, a 14-year veteran of the international film distribution business, joined Lakeshore in 1996 and has played a key role in its distribution operations. She handled such pics as “Underworld,” being released Stateside by Screen Gems; “The Gift,” starring Cate Blanchett and directed by Sam Raimi; “Autumn in New York,” starring Richard Gere and Winona Ryder; the Julia Roberts/Gere starrer “Runaway Bride”; and the Mark Pellington-directed thriller “Arlington Road.”
Prior to joining Lakeshore, she served as director of international sales at Trans-Atlantic Entertainment.
She began her international sales career in 1988 at Intercontinental Releasing Corp. and held international sales posts at such companies as Shapiro Glickenhaus Entertainment and Ulysses Entertainment.
