Brill to ‘Paddle’ for Par

'Italian Job's' De Line to produce backwoods comedy

Paramount Pictures has tapped comedy specialist Steven Brill to direct “Without a Paddle.”

The studio is in negotiations with Brill (“Mr. Deeds”) to helm the backwoods buddy comedy for Par-based Donald De Line to produce.

Story revolves around a camping-trip-gone-bad with three city-dwelling friends in a series of misadventures.

Brill wrote and directed “Little Nicky,” directed “Heavyweights” and has writing credits on all three “Mighty Ducks” films. He also penned the original script for Revolution’s comedy “In the Pink,” which has Tim Allen attached as a Mary Kay cosmetics salesman.

De Line’s next release through Par is “The Italian Job,” which opens May 30.
