The second annual Hollywood Black Film Festival Kids’ Fest will showcase family pics by black independent filmmakers to its moppet audience during event skedded for June 5 at the Los Angeles Film School.
Fest features seven shorts, six from HBO and one from HBFF, and will run films from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.. A diverse cross-section of elementary and middle school youth will comprise the audience.
“We hope that through this forum some of the youth who participate will be inspired to become filmmakers and share their own stories,” said HBFF founder and executive director Tanya Kersey-Henley.
HBFF tacked on their kiddie extravaganza after discovering nearly 35% of attendees were families with children. Fest has tapped the broader family audience in its efforts to launch independent films and filmmakers by bringing them media and industry attention.
