Warner Bros. Pictures Intl. will theatrically distribute Belgian director Stijn Coninx’s pic “Verder dan de maan” (Sea of Silence) in the Netherlands and Belgium this fall.
Studio will also release pic on homevideo and holds international TV distribution rights in these territories.
Set against the backdrop of an Apollo space flight to the moon, pic follows the spiritual and emotional development of a 9-year-old girl and her father.
Penned by Jacqueline Epskamp, “Silence” stars Johanna ter Steege, Neeltje de Vree, Anneke Blok, Annet Malherbe, Wim Opbrouck and Huub Stapel.
Pic was produced by Els Vandevorst and Ineke van Wierst of Amsterdam-based Isabella Films, which also co-produced “Dancer in the Dark” for Lars von Trier and produced Thomas Vinterberg’s “It’s All About Love.”
Film was co-produced by Sophimages (Belgium), Lichtblick Film (Germany), Zentropa Prods. (Denmark), KRO Television, VRT (Flanders), RTBF (Wallonia) and ZDF/Arte (Belgium, France, Germany).
