Artisan finds ‘David’

Plowright, Caviezel star in post-World War II Euro pic

Artisan Entertainment will take North American distribbing rights on Walden Media’s “I Am David,” a pic adapted from Anne Holm’s novel of the same name.

Written and directed by “Freaks and Geeks” creator Paul Feig, the films concerns a young boy’s quest for freedom and search for identity in post-World War II Europe.

Anschutz Co. subsid Walden recently produced James Cameron’s doc “Ghosts of the Abyss” and “Holes,” a Phoenix Pictures laffer.

“David” will be added to Artisan’s early 2004 North American theatrical release slate. Pic recently screened at both FilmFest Kansas City and the San Diego Film Festival.

“David” stars Joan Plowright, Jim Caviezel and tyro thesp Ben Tibber. The film was produced by Clive Parsons, Davina Belling and Lauren Levine.
