'Musketeer' producer to explore Yeti legend
Emmett/Furla Films has teamed with Ilya Salkind and Gale Anne Hurd to develop and produce “The Abominable Snowman.”
Salkind, who served as executive producer of the original “Superman” movie as well as its next two sequels, held the rights to the “Abominable Snowman” title.
Feature would be based on the Snowman legend, which says that enormous and savage ape-men, or “yeti,” stalk the Himalayan Mountains.
In a 2000 interview with National Geographic magazine, renowned mountain climber Reinhold Messner said he believed the “yeti” were actually a rare but fierce species of the Tibetan brown bear.
Hurd has also teamed with Randall Emmett and George Furla to develop “Micronauts.”
Salkind’s credits also include “The Three Musketeers” and “Santa Claus: The Movie” as well as the TV series “Superboy.”
Emmett/Furla is in preproduction on “Belly of the Beast” starring Steven Seagal. Currently in post are “Wonderland” and “Blind Horizon,” both starring Val Kilmer.
