The 2004 kudos calendar is shifting again, with the Grammys planning an earlier date to avoid jostling with Oscar.
The music awards show is reportedly moving to Feb. 8, instead of their usual late-February berth. The Grammys are expected to return to L.A., after this year’s event in Gotham. The Staples Center is the target locale for the kudocast, which will air on CBS.
Reps of the National Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences declined comment.
Meanwhile, the American Music Awards are moving even earlier. That ABC show usually airs in early January, but will now go to November. The move is said to be unrelated to the Grammy or Oscar changes.
The Academy Awards have traditionally been held in late March, but will shift a month earlier, to Feb. 29, in an experiment starting next year. In the wake of the Oscar announcement, there have been a series of schedule changes, including non-televised awards (the Directors Guild, Writers Guild) as well as TV events (the SAG Awards).
