BAFTA/LA to fete Lansbury

Thesp joins Grant, Weir among honorees

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles will honor Angela Lansbury with its Britannia Award for lifetime achievement in television and film at the Britannia Awards on Nov. 8, at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.

Lansbury “is an institution in the film, television and theatre communities,” BAFTA/LA chairman Gary Dartnall said. “Her talent, artistic contributions and spirit uplift everyone who comes into contact with her. She is truly a treasure we share with the rest of the world.”

As previously announced, actor Hugh Grant will receive the Stanley Kubrick award for excellence in film, director Peter Weir will be presented with the John Schlesinger award for artistic excellence and Howard Stringer will receive the award for contributions to worldwide entertainment at the same awards show.
