Site for Marvel’s blind hero

'Daredevil's' online experience simulates senses

This article was amended on Feb. 10, 2003.

The Daredevil movie site prominently lists opening dates for dozens of countries, and really seems to treat second-world surfers as first-class citizens — though more than a few of the links to international sites are currently broken.

Riffing off the premise that the superhero is blind, the site designers created an absorbing, challenging online quiz that requires you to use sounds, simulated scents and your wits to solve riddles just like Daredevil would. One question even mimics the experience of reading Braille — fantastic.

It also taps into the instant messaging ‘net culture by offering animated icons for use when you’re chatting with AOL’s AIM.

Of course, it should be noted that “Daredevil” opens this month, while “X-Men” has until May to continue to bulk up its Web site.
