LucasArts’ ‘Knights’ boosts X Box

It’s set in a galaxy that’s even longer ago and just as far away, but “Knights of the Old Republic” is still a huge initial hit for LucasArts and Microsoft’s struggling X Box vidgame console.

The title from George Lucas’ vidgame division sold more than 270,000 units in its first two weeks of release, setting a record for an X Box-only title, LucasArts said. The game sold through its initial allocation of units just four days after its July 16 release. At a typical retail price of $50, the initial sales represent a retail “B.O.” of $13.5 million for the two weeks.
