KORDA provides Euro pic finance info

Database lists funding for each facet of filmmaking

In the not-pretty-but-quite-useful Web site category, check out KORDA, a newly launched European database that provides “a compilation of available information on public funding for film and audiovisual production and distribution in Europe.” Finland, for example, has 18 funding programs for writing, producing, distribution, training and scholarships.

The database is the result of collaboration between the European Audiovisual Observatory and the funding bodies concerned, as well as with various specialized national sources.

I’m afraid I’m not qualified to judge the database’s scope, but the detail provided for each existing entry is very impressive, with details on previous year’s funding, application processes and related programs.

If you’re interested in paying to access similar material, Peacefulfish is a European consultancy that offers not just financing data, but financing assistance. (Variety and Peacefulfish have an advertising relationship.) www.peacefulfish.com
