Half-hour feature provides look at the making of the hit musical

Continuing its push to heighten the profile of “Chicago” as Oscar ballots go out, Miramax Films has pacted with online film company www.IFILM.com to launch a special extended feature on the release.

Titled ” ‘Chicago’ — The Reinvention of an American Art Form,” the half-hour feature provides a detailed glimpse into the making of Rob Marshall’s hit musical, elaborating on the story’s themes of fame, notoriety and media manipulation and showcasing the singing and dancing of its cast. Also included are key cast and crew interviews, rehearsal footage and a recap of the musical’s history.

“IFILM has always looked for ways to give its visitors the most compelling video content online,” said Adam Stein, exec VP of IFILM Network. “This is the longest piece we’ve ever done on a feature film. We think that this type of promotion on such a brilliant film as groundbreaking as ‘Chicago’ is a perfect example of how best to leverage the Internet. “

Nominated for 13 Academy Awards, “Chicago” has grossed more than $126 million worldwide.
