LucasArts’ “Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic” and Nintendo’s “The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker” are the big winners in end-of-year awards from some of the most popular Web sites for gamers.
CNET’s GameSpot picked “Zelda,” while GameSpy, which recently agreed to merge with competitor IGN, named “Star Wars” its top game of the year. Awards are particularly notable as the two games are available for Nintendo GameCube and Microsoft Xbox, respectively, not Sony’s PlayStation 2, which dominates the console market.
Earlier this month, Spike TV named Electronic Arts’ “Madden NFL 2004” its game of the year in its inaugural Video Game Awards.
