Preempting the Disney Channel, which will launch on satellite platform SKY PerfecTV in November, telecom giant NTT group will start Disney contents service DisneyBB (broadband) on its fiber optics broadband network on July 22.Targeted at 3-to-6-year-olds, Disney’s first broadband entertainment service in Asia includes Disney songs and music, classic short films and Disney film trailers. For $10 a month, viewers can play on-screen games with Disney characters using the $83 starter kit available to subscribers. The launch followed a 50-day free “pre-service” test with about 3,000 households in Tokyo and Osaka earlier this year.
