Slimming Vivendi sells mobile-media division

Vivendi has sold its mobile-media division Moviso, which distributes ring tones and other content to cellular service providers, to technology services company InfoSpace for $25 million.

Moviso was part of VU Net USA, an Internet and technology unit of Vivendi that was not part of the sale of entertainment assets to GE. Vivendi has been trying to unload its tech assets in the past year, which include and a vidgame development unit.

Sale comes just a year and a half after Vivendi acquired Moviso, which was previously known as Premium Wireless Services.

InfoSpace plans to use Moviso to expand the offerings of its mobile division to include branded content, ring tones and entertainment services.
