CALCUTTA — Star Entertainment has bought TV and video rights to Universal’s library of Tintin films for an undisclosed sum.
The package includes 14 of the choicest titles relating to the world famous character created by Belgian Georges Remi Herge, such as “Tintin and the Lake of Sharks,” “The Red Sea Sharks” and “Tintin in the Land of the Black Gold.” Star can dub the work into Hindi and any or all India’s regional languages.
“We are now in discussions with various TV channels,” Star CEO Jiten Hemdev says. “There are huge possibilities to distribute the works through regional channels. These include Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi and Bengali TV brands.
