Exec has championed VOD for company
NEW YORK — In Demand, the dominant distributor in the U.S. of pay-per-view movies and events, has promoted its executive VP, Rob Jacobson, to the post of chief operating officer.
Jacobson has spearheaded In Demand’s push into video-on-demand which allows subscribers to pause and rewind a movie without needing a VCR or DVD player.
All of the major studios except Walt Disney have signed a deal that allows In Demand the right to sell their movies in VOD as well as PPV.
Jacobson joined In Demand (then known as Viewer’s Choice) as senior VP of distribution and product development in June 1999. Before that, he was VP of program acquisitions, East Coast, for DirecTV.
