Film lab Deluxe has bought the European operations of CD and DVD duper Disctronics, adding four replication plants to its operations. Terms of the sale were not released.
Disctronics has been one of the largest independent replication operations on the Continent, and the acquisition significantly boosts Deluxe’s presence there, adding capacity to copy an additional 1.5 million optical discs per day. Disctronics customers include Universal Music Group, AOL, Electronic Arts, France Telecom, BMG and Warner Music. Company operates facilities in England, France and Italy.
Deluxe already dupes DVDs and videotapes for the home entertainment wings of Fox, Paramount and Columbia TriStar, and it also just announced a deal with Universal Pictures Intl. to handle that company’s Euro manufacturing and distribution.
