HOLLYWOOD — Former Dolby Labs exec Michael DiCosimo has opened a New York-based company specializing in digital cinema design and technical support.
DiCosimo’s Digital Presentation Consultancy Group also handles special exhibition venues and post-production facilities for music, film and TV. As a member of the Motion Picture Academy’s New York events committee, he supervised the conversion of the Ames Auditorium of Lighthouse Intl. to a 35mm theater that will house the Academy’s screening program.
DiCosimo spent 23 years with Dolby, 11 as VP of its East Coast operations. Among the projects he was involved in were work on the Ziegfield Theater, Radio City Music Hall and the Alice Tully and Avery Fisher halls at Lincoln Center, New York screening rooms for several major distribs and the sound and projection design for the Film Society’s Walter Reade Theater at Lincoln Center.
He also was lead tech consultant on numerous specialized events, such as premieres of movies at Madison Square Garden, an Ellis Island immigration building and Three Rivers Stadium in Pittsburgh.
