Org sez gov’t influencing Serb TV

World Brief

International watchdog Human Rights Watch has slammed the Serbian government of Prime Minister Zoran Djindjic for meddling in the affairs of Yugoslavia’s top commercial networks.

HRW claims Djindjic is using his office as a bully pulpit to influence the editorial policy of Serb heavy weight commercial nets Pink TV and BK TV.

Djindjic denied pressuring the broadcasters and dismissed HRW allegations. Djindjic and his Serb ministers have signed a contract vowing to resign if found guilty of influencing any media outlet, court of law or the police.
