Intuition, Animus join for consultations

Duocenters on content, distrib'n in Spanish, Portuguese

MIAMI — Less than a month after media maven Ele Juarez ankled his post at Spain’s Telefonica Contenidos, he has allied his new Madrid-based consultancy Intuition with Damaris Valero’s Miami-based Animus Entertainment Group.

Two execs intend to consult on content and distribution in Spanish and Portuguese in Latin America, Spain and the U.S. Hispanic market.

Before ankling Telefonica, Juarez spent nearly 10 years advancing digital TV entertainment in Spain and Latin America.

In Febuary 2001, he was tapped to drive media expansion in Spanish-lingo markets worldwide at Telefonica Contenidos (aka Admira), which is now divesting media assets.

He was also managing director of Spanish pay TV leader Sogecable from 1995 to 1998, where he closed six U.S. studio package deals and prexy-CEO of HBO Latin American Group from 1998 to 2000, where he pushed its adoption as a premium service.

“After having spent many years in the entertainment and media industry in Spain, Latin America and the USA, I’ve identified a unique window of opportunity that clearly demands reinvention of the old formats for doing business in these territories,” Juarez said.

Prior to hanging out her own consulting shingle, Valero was chief marketing officer at pay TV programmer Claxon Interactive Group. She previously served as veepee of Business Development for the Universal Studios TV Group, senior veepee of sales for MTV Networks Latin America and she worked at U.S. Hispanic net Telemundo.
