Wetherald named senior VP

TORONTO — David Wetherald has been tapped senior VP and secretary of Headline Media Group, in charge of helping find a buyer for Headline’s troubled gay-themed digital specialty channel PrideVision.

Headline Media, which pinkslipped about half of PrideVision’s staff in late December, last week posted a year-end loss of C$36.5 million ($23.6 million), compared to a loss of $14.6 million in 2001. Revenues were $21 million, up 18% from the previous year.

The Toronto-based company also owns sports digital specialty web the Score Television Network and sports marketing and specialty publishing company St. Clair Group Investments.

Wetherald, who joined Headline Media in August and helped organize the PrideVision restructuring, was previously director of development and legal affairs at Torstar.
