There’s still hope

For readers poring over election returns this morning, a quick reminder: It was 37 years ago that Ronald Reagan won the gubernatorial election.

Daily Variety‘s Army Archerd summed up his victory with a fusillade of one-liners. He quoted Bob Hope saying, “Now maybe the actors can have their own line in the unemployment office.” Hope added: “California is now back to the two-party system: the Democrats and the Screen Actors Guild.”

Hope’s jests still seem relevant.
