Astral earnings soaring

Revs up from same quarter of last year

TORONTO — A strong showing from TV and radio groups led Montreal-based Astral Media to a 42% boost in quarterly earnings.

Earnings for the quarter ended Feb. 28 were $13.8 million ($9.5 million,) up a whopping 42% from the same quarter a year ago, on revenues of $78.1 million, up 21% from last year’s second quarter.

“We are very pleased with the strong contribution of the radio stations acquired from Telemedia over the three-month period,” said Astral prexy and CEO Ian Greenberg.

Astral is one of Canada’s largest specialty, pay and pay-per-view TV companies, and is also active in radio and outdoor advertising.
