To the Editor:
I have been a professional working actor for the past 53 years. About 70% of the time I work as a craftsman with my three unions keeping my feet on the ground. Thank you.
That leaves me with 30% of my work as an artist. Though my ego sees these percentages vice versa, the facts remain otherwise.
Every time we try to merge, join forces and affiliate, there has been a yin and a yang, and the negative has always won. This time, we are so close I just hope we make it for the benefit of all artists.
I have studied all the thinking behind the last attempts to merge, and the latest from the anti, “save SAG” group boils down to one word: snobbery.
