Letter to the Editor

To the Editor:

While it is nice that the Emmys decided to include a “reality” award this season, why did they pick three shows that are not reality?

“The Amazing Race,” “American Idol” and “Survivor” are gameshows.

Everyone on the show is competing for a prize by performing tasks planned out by the producers. We are not getting a “real” glimpse into their lives.

If the Academy wants “reality,” they should change the title of this award to reflect the gameshows it has chosen to honor.
