Whitaker enters ‘Twilight’

'Panic' thesp strides in Serling's shoes as 'Zone' host

UPN has lured Forest Whitaker into its “Twilight Zone.”

The thesp, helmer and producer has taken on the host role for the netlet’s anthology series pilot.

CAA-repped Whitaker, who also will have producing input, will take on the role that Rod Serling played in the original “The Twilight Zone” series, providing intros and outros to each episode’s self-contained vignette.

As an actor, Whitaker is known for roles in such features as “Panic Room,” “The Crying Game” and “Ghost Dog.” He directed “Hope Floats” and “Waiting to Exhale.” He’ll be seen next month in Spirit Dance’s first feature, “Green Dragon.”

“The Twilight Zone” is being produced by Trilogy Entertainment Group in association with New Line Television. Pen Densham is the writer and will exec produce with his partners Mark Stern and John Watson.
