Pitts returns to Eye opener

Roberts, Bergeron, Bingswanger co-hosting with Clayton

NEW YORK — Former “Early Show” exec producer Lyne Pitts is returning to the CBS ayemer.

Pitts, who went on medical leave in April, will resume her job next Tuesday as the skein’s executive producer. She will report to senior executive producer Michael Bass.

Since the April departure of anchor Bryant Gumbel, the issues of format and succession on “The Early Show” have been the subject of speculation.

CBS News chief White House correspondent John Roberts, “Hollywood Squares” host Tom Bergeron and “This Week in History” anchor Josh Bingswanger are all taking turns co-hosting with Jane Clayson.

“Inside Edition” anchor Deborah Norville also has filled in and is interested in the job.

Insiders say that September is the deadline for the anchor question to be answered, but CBS News says it is fall.
