Morning Ratings Flash - Rick Kissell

The season premiere of “Law & Order” (18.7 million viewers, 5.2/14 in adults 18-49) led NBC to another Wednesday victory in both total viewers and adults 18-49, according to prelim nationals from Nielsen. The Peacock’s “West Wing” has certainly cooled down, though, as its projected 5.2/13 in adults 18-49 is its lowest since the end of its first season.

ABC was a solid second on the night and first in adults 18-34, buoyed by the season premiere of “The Bachelor” (prelim 11 million, 4.9/12 in adults 18-49), which topped the season opener of CBS’ “Amazing Race” (9.5 million, 3.7/9). Net’s “George Lopez” looked solid at 8:30, winning its half-hour in total viewers (11.3 million) and adults 18-49 (4.6/13), retaining nearly 90% of its lead-in from “My Wife and Kids” (13.3m, 5.2/16).

It was another close battle for also-ran status at 10, with CBS’ “Presidio Med” edging out ABC’s “MDs” in adults 18-49 (3.1 to 3.0) despite a lead-in advantage for the Alphabet show.

Preliminary adults 18-49 averages: NBC, 5.2/14; ABC, 4.3/12; Fox, 3.5/9 (net carried baseball and this number is expected to rise); CBS, 3.1/8.

Preliminary total viewer averages: NBC, 15.2 million; ABC, 10.2 million; Fox, 9.8 million (could finish higher); CBS, 9.2 million.
