The trend toward selling reruns of network-TV and firstrun syndication series to cable has prompted Paramount Domestic TV to assign all cable sales to its senior VP and national sales manager, Scott Koondel.
Koondel oversees the sale of Par’s firstrun and rerun series to TV stations. He will now also sell them to cable networks. In addition, he’ll sell theatrical movies to cable nets.
Rob Friedman, senior VP of cable sales for the division, will report to Koondel. Koondel, in turn, reports to John Nogawski, president of Paramount Domestic TV.
Earlier this year, Par engineered the sale of its firstrun syndicated strip “Life Moments,” which premieres this fall, to the Hallmark Channel in a shared window.
Koondel joined Paramount in June 1993 as Eastern divisional manager and rose up through the ranks to senior VP. Before Par, Koondel was national sales manager for WPIX-TV New York.
