Oxygen and BET have partnered on original series “Hey Monie,” the first and only animated skein to feature black women.
“Hey Monie” takes a look at lives of single professionals in an urban setting. Show, produced by ani house Soup2Nuts, originated on Oxygen’s “X-Chromosome” animation showcase. Five segs have already been produced.
Oxygen and BET will share the costs and rights for 13 episodes. This is Oxygen’s first co-production.
“We are so pleased to enter into this unique partnership because it allows Oxygen to bring more diversity to our air and to continue to support quality animated programming,” said net’s chair and CEO, Geraldine Laybourne.
“Hey Monie” will air on both nets in spring 2003.
