Controversial Olympic gold medalists Jamie Sale and David Pelletier are skating back to NBC.
The duo will headline one-hour special “Jamie and David’s Homecoming,” April 1 at 8 p.m. Spec was taped for Canadian TV from their hometown of Edmonton.
Their Russian competitors Anton Sikharulidze and Elena Berezhnaya — who shared the ice storm surrounding the Olympic skating pairs event with Sale and Pelletier –also will skate in the program. It will be the first time Sale and Pelletier have performed together since February’s Winter Games.
Beyond the double-toe loops, “Jamie and David” also will feature interviews with the four skaters about the twists and turns they went through in receiving their Olympic gold medals.
NBC devoted much of its Games coverage to the pairs event — Sale and Pelletier were given gold medal honors after it was determined that the judging was unfair. The Russians also kept their gold medals.
“Jamie and David’s Homecoming” will be produced by NBC Sports. David Neal is on board as executive producer, with David Michaels and Allan Brum producing. Michaels will also direct.
