O’Brien reports to WCBS position

Vet replaces Murray as assistant news director

Philip O’Brien has joined WCBS as assistant news director, ankling his managing editor post at WNBC.

O’Brien will report to veepee-news director Dianne Doctor, who joined the station in August after leaving WNBC.

He replaces Michelle Murray, who was upped to senior manager of news programming and operations.

O’Brien was at WNBC since 1997. Prior to that, he was news director of NY1 and also held positions at WNYW and CNN. A past president of the New York Press Club, O’Brien began his career as a print journalist for the Long Island Press.
