New Line vets on ‘Road’

Will travel to HBO, Starz!

New Line Television believes in loyalty to its employees.

The company has sold a simultaneous pay TV run of feature-length indie psychological thriller “The Road From Erebus” to HBO and Starz Encore; the four principals in Short End Prods., the company set up to produce the pic, all met while working at New Line.

David Sporn, who created Short End, is the director of “Erebus.” Sporn is working with another New Line veteran, Jeffrey Reddick, on horror project “The Piper.” Their partners in Short End, Brett Leitner and Ovi Vitas, also worked at New Line.

HBO and Starz Encore were logical outlets for “Erebus,” which will see its world premiere on pay TV because HBO is a sister company of New Line and Starz Encore has an output deal with New Line for all of its theatrical releases.

New Line takes pains to point out that “Erebus” got its first public screening at the Austin Film Festival last year and that the Ain’t It Cool News Web site has given the movie a favorable review.
