Peacock greenlights 'Miami,' 'Island'

NBC greenlit two additional drama pilots Friday, both from inhouse production arm NBC Studios.

Peacock picked up “Miss Miami,” a crime drama from scribe Michael Duggan (“Earth 2″) that revolves around a Latina law enforcement agent. Skein will be produced by NBC Studios in association with Handprint Entertainment.

Duggan’s small-screen credits include ABC drama “C-16,” which he created and exec produced, and “Millennium,” on which he was a scribe-producer

NBC also okayed “St. George’s Island,” a fantasy adventure from NBC Studios about a family that ends up in Africa. Tommy Lynch wrote the pilot and will serve as exec producer.

“Island” is one of two low-budget drama pilots NBC is producing as part of its effort to create a successful series with a license fee in the $500,000 range. The other is an hour about the young King Arthur.
